Man arrested over department store break-in, Cairns

Detectives from the Cairns Child Protection and Investigation Unit charged an 18-year-old Mount Sheridan man yesterday in relation to a break-in at an Earlville department store. Police responded to an alarm at the store in the Stockland complex shortly before 2.00am on Monday. A police dog allegedly tracked the man to the rear of a Mulgrave Road address where he was located in bushes. The man was charged with break and enter of a premise, stealing, wilful damage and contravening a requirement. He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later today.
