Man arrested over numerous traffic offences, Mooroobool

Cairns Traffic Branch officers charged a 39-year-old Bungalow man with a total of nine traffic offences yesterday afternoon following a vehicle intercept on Mestrez Street. It is alleged that the man was driving his sedan when police attempted to intercept him in relation to an alleged speeding incident. The man allegedly fled on foot and was located in the back yard of a nearby residence. It is further alleged the man returned a breath alcohol reading of .212% and he was charged with offences including driving whilst under the influence of liquor; driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle; unlicensed driving and failing to stop for a prescribed purpose. The man’s vehicle was seized and he is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court early in March.
