Man charged over assaults, Parramatta Park

A 33-year-old Parramatta Park man is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later today following a disturbance at a local primary school on Thursday morning. Police were called to the school at about 8.10 after the man had allegedly chased his female partner into the school grounds following a dispute in a nearby street. The man was subsequently restrained by school staff until police arrived. The man was arrested for a number of matters and whilst being placed into the police vehicle, allegedly kicked a male officer in the face. The officer sustained grazing and swelling to the face as a result. The man was charged with serious assault, common assault, trespassing on an educational institution and wilful damage as a result of the incident. No students were involved in the incident.
