MHFA was founded in Australia by a husband and wife team who wanted to train community members to support fellow citizens in moments of mental health crisis in the same way they do in physiological crisis. Their approach offers early identification of and intervention in mental ill health, with implications for long term savings by avoiding spending on expensive, acute care.
