Nyoko-do Hermitage is the former residence of Dr Takashi Nagai, the famous radiologist from Nagasaki, who lobbied for better treatment for the many people that were affected by the radiation from the atomic blast. He died in 1951, aged 43, from his exposure to the atomic explosion.
