Address:
10062 Bryn Mawr Ave.
Chicago, IL
Category: Transportation
O'Hare International Airport was originally known as Orchard Field, but renamed in 1949 to honor naval pilot Butch O'Hare. For over 30 years, O'Hare has been considered the world's commercial aviation capital and is the hub of all U.S. air transportation and the top economic engine of the Midwest. The entire complex covers almost 7,000 acres. It has four terminals with 178 gates. O'Hare offers more connections to more cities, more often than any other airport in the world. O'Hare provides direct service to more than 60 international destinations and offers hourly nonstop service to New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Dallas, Washington DC, Detroit, Atlanta, and Minneapolis. Approximately 185,000 travelers pass through O'Hare each day.
The O'Hare Hilton is directly across the street from the terminals. One can walk directly from the airplane to his hotel in minutes. The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) provides inexpensive, efficient train service from O'Hare to downtown Chicago on the Blue Line.
Inside O'Hare, you'll find several outstanding art and educational exhibits, including permanent, temporary, and traveling exhibits. The retail shops and restaurants are too numerous to mention. Check O'Hare's website for details.
