Oldham riots

In Oldham there were great tensions between the immigrant Asian peoples from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh and the native whites. The immigrants came predominately because of work oportunities in the factories, which were on decline around the mid 20th century. The Asians were the first ones to be layed off in factory jobs and lived in the poorest neighborhoods in the city. this economic disparity led to many acts of violence of both sides and culminated in a 2-day riot.
