Owens Hall is named after George Owens. Mr. Owens cme to Virginia Normal and Industrial Institute in 1908 to serve as Farm Manager and Instructor of Agriculture. He served as the head of the Agriculture Department (1908-1927). In 1927 he was released from his duties as department head to devote full time to Vocational Agriculture in Virginia.
