Oxbow Mountain
Category: Abandoned Ski Areas
Reopening Rumors: I happened to ride up a lift at Bolton Valley once in March 2008 with the owner of the property's daughter, who says that her dad's trying to get the lift running again but the motor was shot. I think he'll need to do more than fix the motor to get the place running again, and wouldn't expect anything in the near future, but hey, take it for what its worth.
**January 2008**
Trails: VERY grown in still. You'd never be able to tell any were here.
Lifts: Explored the summit of the old ski area via a VAST snowmobile trail that runs right past the unload terminal for the T-bar. In actuality, it wasn't JUST a T-bar. There were actually several platter pull sticks attached to it as well! Looks to have been a bit of a "frankenlift."
Facilities: At the summit? Nothing.
Accessibility: As mentioned, a VAST snowmobile trail runs right past the summit of the old ski area, and remains the best way to explore the old area. Please respect the property owner's privacy and do not trespass at the base.
**Pre-2008 Visit**
Trails: Look to be pretty much all grown in, except for lower portions of the slopes which appear to have been maintained as part of the property owner's lawn.
Lifts: An old rusty Hall T-bar stands DEEP in the woods. T's appear to still be attached.
Facilities: The base lodge has now been converted into a private home.
Accessibility: Inaccessible, seeing as it's sitting in someone's backyard now. Just going by what I see from the road.
