The concept of Parents' TV grew originally through attempts to address the problems an individual school was experiencing in Darlaston communicating with parents in an area of considerable social deprivation. Local research showed that TV and video were accessible to the majority of parental households, so technology became the clear option for communicating with these parents in place of written letters and brochures. In addition, parents were more willing to listen to other parents than to school staff. So the model has been for parents to make videos for other parents on how to support their children's learning.
