Paul Bunyan is back after a complete overhaul. Mr Bunyan had a complete makeover at the hands of J. Eugene Boivin of Rumford. Part of the makeover includes a new paint job, a new ax and internal steel supports which are secured to a six foot tall block of concrete. The supports were secured from the inside by workers who had to climb out of the neck before the head was attached. Previously he was supported by wires attached to a building. Mr. Bunyan is illuminated by parking lot lights and quite secure. He is now the property of the Town of Rumford and stands at the foot of Falls Hill on Route 2 next to the Chamber of Commerce information booth, which is designed to look like a grist mill with working water wheel. Also on the site is a memorial to Ed Muskie, who was born in Rumford, and the highest waterfalls east of Niagara. The location is just a few yards from his previous location in front of the former Puiia Home Center.
