Address:
Newberry National Volcanic Monument, Oregon, USA

Category: Hot Springs-soakable

Used in the following map:

C/O Hiking & Soaking in the Western U.S. & Canada

GPS GeoCoords: 43.731833, -121.251183

Hot springs occur along much of the east shore of Paulina Lake north of Little Crater Campground but most are beneath the lake. The best springs are in the northeastern most corner of the lake. Temperatures as high as 126° F can be obtained when a spring is isolated from the lake in the beach. Offshore there is a sizeable area of above normal temperatures and rising gas bubbles indicating that hot spring activity is not confined to the shoreline.

Temp: 126F

Access is via Hwy 97 to eastbound on Paulina Lake Road/County Road 21. This brings you to the southern side of the lake where there are campgrounds a short dostance at both the SE and SW sides. On the east side there are several boat launches.

A trail cincumnavigates the lake. The springs are on the northern side of the lake near a campground appropriately called Warm Springs Campground.
