A 40-year-old Aurukun man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted a police officer during a traffic stop on the Aurukun Access Road around 11.00 last night. The man allegedly became aggressive when police located a quantity of alcohol in his vehicle; the man allegedly struck the officer in the face causing bruising and swelling to his mouth. The man was charged with serious assault and possession of liquor in a restricted area He is scheduled to appear at the Aurukun Magistrates Court on August 16.
