Police searching for good Samaritan in weekend assault, Manunda

Cairns detectives would like to speak to a woman who offered assistance to another woman who had her bag snatched at Manunda on April 17. The victim, a 19-year-old woman, was walking along Hoare Street around 10.35am when she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her handbag. The woman struggled with the man but he pulled her bag away and ran off with it. The woman was not injured in the incident. The offender is described as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, with a medium build and a shaved head. He was wearing a cream coloured singlet, thongs and board shorts. Police are urging the female driver who stopped to assist the woman to contact Cairns CIB to assist with their inquiries into the incident.
