Redlynch dad on 36 child sex charges

A REDLYNCH family man has been arrested and charged for the alleged sexual abuse of two teenage boys over more than two years and involving 36 offences.

The 49-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on Thursday night for offences carried out from 2007 to this year.

Police said both the victims were under 14 and that one boy had endured more than 30 sexual offences for more than two years.

Police say the man was a family friend of one of the victims with the other boy being a friend of his son.

Police were alerted about the man by one of the boy’s parents.

It is alleged the man carried out sexual offences on the boys separately and in locations around Cairns and the Tableland.

Police found nothing belonging to the victims at the man’s house during a raid and are still collecting evidence.

The man was married with at least one child and has been remanded in custody to appear in Cairns Magistrates’ Court next month.

Both the boys will undergo counselling
