RHF Museum

Category: Historic Building/Architectural Interest

Used in the following map:

Trail 3- Merchant City/ Trongate

518 Sauchiehall St.

This compact building was designed by John Keppie (1862- 1945) and built in 1903-4. Charles Rennie Mackintosh is also said to have worked on the building.

This building used to be the studio of the famous Glasgow photographers T & R Annan. It is now the museum and headquarters of the Royal Highland Fusiliers, a regiment of the British Army. The building has some finely sculptured figures at the top, and a very detailed relief of the RHF regimental badge picked out in gold. You can also see the flags, or "regimental colours" set into the panel at the top of the building, along with the initials "RHF".
