Police are investigating the robbery and assault of a 26-year-old male tourist that occurred at approximately 10.40 last night at the intersection of Aplin and McLeod Street Cairns City. An unknown male approached the victim and punched him in the head causing the victim to fall to the ground. The offender then stole the victim’s bag before getting into a white four door sedan with a black stripe along the middle of the doors which was parked nearby. The victim suffered cuts to the mouth as a result of the assault. The offender is described as being a Caucasian male with sandy coloured hair. Police investigations are continuing
