Cairns police are investigating a robbery in which a man was seriously assaulted on Wednesday morning. Around 4.15am on Wednesday August 10 in Lake Street between Kerwin Street and Upward Street, a 67-year-old Cairns North man was walking to work along Lake Street when he was approached from behind, knocked to the ground, kicked and stomped on. The man sustained non-life threatening injuries to his body and shoulder. Two men stole his backpack containing his wallet and personal items. The men are described as having dark tanned skin. One man is described as being about 160cm, in his late teens with a thin moustache and was wearing a black ‘hoodie’ covering his head. The other man was described as clean shaven and was also wearing a black ‘hoodie’ over his head.
