reasons for immigration are mostly a result of the governments effort to "purify" the country, implementing laws forcing jews, etc. to leave.
there is not much movement in despite the gov'ts attempt to persuade former Russian immigrants to return or those from neighboring countries wanting slightly more freedom religiously/politically (i.e. Muslims)
