The castle of Noli on the coast has a special historical significance: dating from the period of the Saracen incursions (ninth-tenth century), it was taken over by Marchese Enrico il Guercio of the Del Carretto family in the middle of the twelfth century. Originally ringed by walls that defended the hill with two arms sloping from the bastion down to the sea, only the western section is still in a perfect state of preservation, with a long stretch of battlements and numerous semicircular towers.
