San Onofre's naturist beach area is located at the southern most 500 feet of San Onofre State Beach. San Onofre S.B. is property the State of California has leased from the marine base.
To reach this clothing-optional area, take Interstate 5 to the Basilone Road exit (which is just south of the San Diego County line). Drive past the nuclear power plant to the park's entrance. Day use fee is $3.00 per vehicle. Drive south another three miles to the far end of the park and take Trail #6, adjacent to Restroom #16, to the beach. Once reaching the beach via Trail #6, walk 600 yards south to the clothing-optional area.
The CO area starts AFTER the ravine located immediately south of the life guard station, and extends approximately 500 feet south to a partial fence. Beyond that point is the marine base (where you might also see other naturists). This base property is occasionally patrolled by military police who DO occasionally issue citations to naturists, usually for tresspass. These tickets are a hassle; don't seek one!
The efforts of many have been involved to maintain a 500 foot area as clothing-optional. Please respect this clothing-optional opportunity and DO NOT venture nude north of "the ravine" or trespass upon the military base.
