The Lighthouse has stood guardian over Mobile Bay for over one hundred and thirty years.It is a beautiful and majestic structure towering over the Gulf of Mexico. Sand Island Lighthouse is located 3 miles south of Dauphin Island, in the Gulf of Mexico. It was constructed by the renowned lighthouse builder Winslow Lewis in 1873.
