Sandy Hook is the New Jersey unit of Gateway National Recreation Area. You will find a two lane bike path along the eastern side of this skinny barrier island. The path runs north to the Lighthouse, Fort Hamilton, Monmouth County's Marine Science High School and some great wonderful blueberries during the season. During the summer, if you drive in you have to pay for parking. If you bike in, no charge.
