An 18-year-old Earlville woman will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on May 25 charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm. It is alleged a 24-year-old Brisbane woman was assaulted after a lit cigarette was thrown at her at on Abbott Street, between the intersections of Spence and Wharf Streets Cairns at about 11.30pm on Thursday April 21. The woman sustained bruising to her eye and jaw, a sore neck and burns to her chest and stomach. She received treatment from the Cairns Base Hospital.
