Shi Shi Beach (shy shy in Macach) has become a lot more popular since the 2003 Travel Channel vote as the nations most beautiful beach . . . and even more accessible with the new trail.
Still, this beach presents lots of coastline to enjoy, is National Park (once you hike through the Macah Reservation) . . .
DIRECTIONS:
Take the Edmonds ferry to Kingston.
Cross the Hood Canal Bridge.
Follow Highway 101 through Port Angeles,
Five miles past Port Angeles, veer right to Highway 12,
Follow 112 for about 60 miles to Neah Bay
At the end of the Town's main street, turn west onto Cape Flattery Road,
Follow the signs to the FIsh Hatchery and after approximately three miles, turn left onto Hobuck Beach Road.
The last three houses before the Shi Shi Beach parking lot have signs for overnight parking. A parking fee will be charged.
1/2 mile from the last house on the left, continue to the Hatchery gate, on the right is the new parking lot and trial head.
PERMITS/PASSES: A $7 annual pass is required for recreation on Makah tribal land. Passes can be purchased at most businesses in Neah Bay. Overnight campers at Shi Shi are required to have two permits from the National Park Service: a $5 per party backcountry permit and a $2 per night, per person, camping fee. The permits can be purchased at the Wilderness Information Center and Visitor Center in Port Angeles, 360-565-3130, or the Olympic National Park Information Center in Forks, 360-374-7566
