Ski Tannenbaum
Category: Abandoned Ski Areas
**July 2010**
Trails: It appears that this ski area had only one main slope, which the lift ran up, with a few quick side trails that elbowed around near the summit then cut back in less than halfway down this "upside down" area's ski slope.
Lifts: The summit drive terminal for some kind of lift still remains, as do the concrete footings and a tipped over operator shack at the base. Sadly, I do not know what kind of lift it was. The bullwheel/engine could either be from a large surface lift, or small chairlift. To add to the mystery, I found both pomalift platter discs, AND the frames of what appear to be old double chairs near this summit terminal.
Facilities: Several small storage shed and one larger warming hut/small lodge still stands, carved into a hillside. LOTS and LOTS of cool old 70's stuff from the ski area is just laying around the summit area, including awesome lamps, arcade games, and random pieces from the cafeteria.
Accessibility: During this trip, the parking lot was blocked with "no tresspassing" signs hanging on the gates, and it looks like this is where the Nevada DOT stores some of their snow removal equipment for the summer. I'm thinking that only applies to the parking lot however, as the bottom half of the ski area appears to fall within the boundary of the Galena Creek Park, and, aside from some faded old signs on several old shed buildings, there are no signs denoting private property.
