The small embanked stream here is traditionally the site of two Dark Age battles, during the first of which King Arthur received his mortal wound at the hand of Mordred. By the stream does indeed lie an ancient moss - covered stone, with an Irish Ogham inscription [see photo], but if its a memorial stone to Arthur, nobody can say.
