Snow Valley
Category: Abandoned Ski Areas
Reopening Rumors: The mountain was purchased in 2004 with the intent of being reopened as a private area, with several of the main trails having been cleared already. A used T-bar was intended to serve these main slopes. The lodge had been gutted as well, but no other renovations had been made. I'm sure money is an issue at this point and am unsure about the exact future of this area's operation.
**May 2008**
Trails: Some of the main trails near the base lodge have been cleared, others are quite grown in almost to the point of complete disappearance.
Lifts: A classic detachable pomalift and double chairlift remain intact, but both are in HORRIBLY rusty and inoperable condition. The double chair is COMPLETELY in the woods at this point, with most chairs still on the line (quite a sight!)
Facilities: The base lodge has been gutted (see reopening news), but has stood in that state for several years now. An large, unstable looking pumphouse still "stands" as well about halfway between the lodge and double chair.
Accessibility: Although the area is wide open and not gated at all, and I didn't come across any posted signs, it is supposedly on private property. Visit at your own risk, or not at all if there is work being done, although it doesn't look like anything's happened for several years at this point.
