A 40-year-old Whitfield man is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on March 1 after he was charged with stealing and obstructing police last Friday. It is alleged that the man had stolen some items from a supermarket and was being pursued by a staff member when police called for him to stop. The man then attempted to push past the female officer however she was able to restrain and handcuff him.
