Police are investigating a suspicious fire of a unit on Deshon Street overnight. Just before 10pm the 37-year-old female resident was woken up by a smoke alarm and saw that the curtains of her bedroom window were ablaze. The woman was able to escape from the room and another family member raised the alarm. Fire units attended the scene however the blaze had already been extinguished. The woman was transported to the Cairns base hospital and was treated for smoke inhalation. Police are treating the cause of the fore as suspicious and inquiries are continuing.
