In a 1896 edition of 'Popular Science Monthly' David Starr Jordan, the president of Stanford University, published an article about a new form of photography. Sympsychography was the name of the new technique that allowed invisible brainwaves to be shown on a photographic plate.

The first test of this new technique involved a person directing their thoughts of a cat towards a plate. When the plate was processed, the image of a cat was visible. However, not all was as it seemed...
