Taco Surf

This place is pretty awesome. Great casual beach theme and a cool overall feel. Kind of cramped but not uncomfortably so. It was the kind of place you feel like you're on vacation when you're in there.

We sat at the bar because it was dinner time and the only table available was right next to the door. No thanks. We started off with some guacamole, which I thought was a good deal at $3.95 but it was a verrrry small dish, and it was not homemade. It tasted like they put salsa in it or something; it wasn't creamy and delicious like guacamole should be. Salsa was good and came with those awesome multicolored chips. Yay!

Small amount of beers on tap, a couple of Mexican and a couple American light beers. Nothing special. I got a Bud Light because I don't like Tecate, but they did have it on tap. No Dos Equis that night either.

The food: I got the three taco dinner with one chicken, one carne asada, and one carnitas taco (because I like to have as many animals as possible per plate, that's right!). I had trouble distinguishing between the chicken as the carnitas, which probably isn't a good thing. It was overall pretty good though, with YUMMY tortillas, cheese, guac, and lettuce on each one. No beans or rice but the three tacos alone were VERY filling. My only complain was that the meat was a bit bland overall, lacking that "authentic" charred spiced taste that even most Tex-Mex places can nail to a point.

My partner got the enchiladas rancheras with chicken which got a thumbs up all around. Yummy rice and beans, creamy ranchero sauce and pico de gallo. Yes please!

Prices were very decent, and I can see how you would crave this stuff. I think I'll be back! It'd be a perfect place to add to my take-out list!
