A group of rustic hot spring resorts, a county-owned public pool, and a natural pond in the low desert of eastern California near Death Valley. This rather run-down town is hot spring heaven if you aren’t looking for fancy resorts. Most of the hotels are older and have seen better days, and many are now closed. The resorts all have hot pools for use of their guests and in some cases for day use. Baths range from common warm pools to individual private tubs. The resorts and county pool are developed; the pond is primitive.
The county pool used to be free in accordance with the wishes of the native indians and treaty. The county now charges $5 for a soak.
Th lone, primative pool (Wild Pool, One Palm Pool) has recently been condemned and taped against use.
