I avoid this area at all costs. Bike lanes are an improvement to Harvard Ave, but do not address the difficulties of navigating the intersection which, among other things, is poorly lit, has potholes gallore, has service lanes, and train tracks.
Wear a healmet. Bring your attitude. A religious icon might be helpful, too.
