Police have charged a 55-year-old Bungalow man with one count of drink drive U.I.L. (0.232%) after it is alleged the motorized wheelchair he was driving collided with an unmarked police vehicle. The man allegedly disobeyed a traffic sign and drove his wheelchair across a pedestrian walk way at the intersection of Abbott and Shields Streets, Cairns, before colliding with the vehicle. Minor damage was sustained to both vehicles and no injuries were sustained. The man will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on August 20.
