Traffic crash involving high range drink driver, Edmonton

Police have charged a 58-year-old Bentley Park woman with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving whilst under the influence of liquor or a drug following a single vehicle crash at Bentley Park yesterday. It is alleged the woman lost control of her Toyota sedan on Fitzmaurice Drive shortly after 8.15 am on Tuesday and crashed into a light pole. Police also allege that a female pedestrian and her three children including a six month old in a pram, were lucky to avoid being hit by the vehicle as it crossed to the incorrect side of the road and mounted the footpath. The driver allegedly returned a breath alcohol reading of .219% and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on June 10.
