TST BOCES

The TST BOCES chapter developed a partnership with Cornell University to focus on renewable energy research in conjunction with the Guterman Plant.  Students gained first-hand experience with scientific research in a project exploring the germination of switchgrass seed stock and the conversion of cellulose to ethanol.  Students shared their findings with their community and prepared kits that teachers could borrow to conduct similar research in their classrooms.  A school research station was created for continuation of the initial research projects and over 7,000 students in 9 school districts were exposed to the educational components of these projects.
