Two arrested over counterfeit money, Whiterock

Edmonton detectives yesterday charged a 26-year-old Kirwan man and a 23-year-old West End man after they allegedly attempted to use counterfeit $50 notes at a White Rock general store yesterday afternoon. Police seized the notes and charged both men with uttering counterfeit notes. They are scheduled to appear at the Cairns Magistrates Court on September 24. Detectives do not believe that the incident is related to the circulation of counterfeit notes in the Cairns area earlier this year however remind business owners to be vigilant in checking the authenticity of currency they accept and to immediately report suspicious currency to the police.
