Two men arrested following disturbance, Cairns North

Two men, aged 17 and 18-years-old are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later today following a disturbance at a North Cairns convenience store on Wednesday night. It is alleged the men were involved in an altercation with a male staff member in the car park of the store on Sheridan Street shortly after 8.30pm. The men left the area before returning a short time later allegedly armed with knives. The pair allegedly made threats to employees before using a shopping trolley to smash a glass door. It is also alleged a male staff member sustained a wound to his leg whilst attempting to lock the front doors. Both men were taken into custody a short distance from the scene and were charged with offences including assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, threatening violence, wilful damage, obstructing police and wilful damage of police property.
