TWO woman have been sexually assaulted on the Red Arrow walking track in Cairns.
A police spokesman said yesterday the attacks were being investigated and police were calling on the public to come forward with any information.
“Around 6am (on Saturday) a woman was walking on the Red Arrow walking track (airport side), Collins Avenue, Edge Hill when she was approached by two male youths,” he said.
“One of the teenagers approached her from behind and grabbed the woman on the buttock before the pair fled.
“A short time later a second woman walking along the track was approached by two youths. She was grabbed around the chest from behind but managed to break free.”
The spokesman said both youths were described as being aged about 16 with dark complexions.
One of the youths is about 165cm tall with a medium build and thin black dreadlocks with blond tips.
“He was wearing a light coloured T-shirt, three-quarter length dark shorts and sneakers,” he said.
“The second youth is approximately 157cm tall with a thin build and short black hair. He was wearing a blue and white horizontal striped shirt, dark three-quarter length shorts and bare feet and was carrying a backpack.”
Neither women, aged 36 and 27, was hurt.
