I am working as a summer intern for N.H. Fish and Game Department Inland Fisheries Division. We are collecting data for a federally funded study on Brook Trout called Eastern Brook Trout Joint Venture (EBTJV). This program is spread across the northeast to map any water with wild Brook Trout inhabiting it. We are given points for a GPS off ArcGIS and follow them to the exact point in the water body. We are primarily working with small streams with only backpack electro fishing units. Three pages of stream and habitat inventory are taken and added to the state database, eventually federal. Even though many of the streams do not have Brook Trout, there have never been studies in most of the sampled sites so any information helps. We are primarily studying the Lamprey River Watershed in the south to south eastern corner of the state of N.H. This is where the line blurs with wild and stocked fish and data is greatly needed.
