Smithfield Police are investigating the theft of a handbag from a vehicle parked outside a Debbie Street residence. Offender/s forced entry to the vehicle late on Monday night and removed the bag which was later located on a park bench a short distance away. A new G-Shock brand watch was also stolen.
Police are reminding motorists to ensure that valuables and even empty bags or backpacks should be removed from vehicles when left unattended in order to deter opportunistic offenders.
