near Buena Vista. Early CDoT maps indicate this junction was on the east side of the river and the railroad, and the current bridge over the Arkansas wasn't built until 1937. Prior to that, US 40-S (the precursor to US 24) followed the green line. At the time the "Free Gold Bridge" (or "Star Highway Bridge") connected today's CR 301 and CR 317.
