During President Martin Van Buren's presidency the Indian Removal Act was enforced, moving thousands of Indians out of their homes to move west. One large even was the Trail of Tears when the Cherokee Tribe left their home in the southeastern U.S. About 4,000 Native Americans died from disease (and etc.) during the trail of tears. This is an example of contrasting cultures, "White is right", and competition for more land.
