Chicago Attractions

Each summer, for one night usually late July, Chicago hosts in annual Venetian Night on its beautiful lakefront. The main attraction at Venetian Night is a lakefront parade of extravagantly decorated boats with costumed crews. Also featured is an elaborate firewooks display set to music.

Venetian Night is the oldest event produced by the City of Chicago. This spectacular event draws over half a million people to Lake Michigan to participate. The first Venetian Night took place on August 8, 1958 and was modeled after the boat parades in Venice, Italy. Back then, decorated boats included Mrs. O’Leary’s Cow and Frankenstein’s Monster.

Check the city's website for this year's event date and information.
