April 8, 2010Gordonvale police yesterday charged a 34 year-old Gordonvale man after he allegedly threatened residents and damaged property using a chainsaw at a Cleland Street address, Gordonvale. It is alleged about 10.30 last night that the man went to the address and confronted the residents. It is alleged that he was asked to leave but that he returned a short time later with a chainsaw which he allegedly used to threaten the occupants. It is alleged the man left the residents after the chainsaw ran out of petrol only to return a short time later with a second chainsaw. It is then alleged that he damaged several electrical items inside the property using his hands before using the chainsaw to cut a lounge chair in half. The man then allegedly damaged several doors inside the residence using the chainsaw. Police arrested the man at the scene and he was later charged with adult burglary with violence and willful damage and is due to appear at the Cairns Magistrates Court today.
