Willowbank Primary School Mosaic Murals,Willowbank St

When Impact Arts and Artist Karina Young set up the Woodlands Bollard Mosaic project, Karina worked closely with the pupils of Willowbank Primary School. Once this project was complete, both Karina and the school were keen to continue working together. They developed an idea that would allow the school's pupils to be involved in a public artwork to be sited in the school grounds. The playground of the school has a long brick wall along one side. It was very bare, and it was decided to make a number of mosaic panels to be placed on the wall.

Karina wanted the children to play the main part in designing the panels, so she worked with all of the classes making drawings and paintings.

The theme of the project was The Ages Of Life - Infancy, Childhood, Adolescence, Adulthood and Seniority. The pupils were asked to depict different images of these important stages in people's lives.
