Police are investigating the assault of a 19-year-old Whiterock woman early yesterday morning. The woman was parked outside a unit complex in McLeod Street just after midnight when a male approached and a verbal dispute ensued. It is alleged the man then struck the bonnet of the vehicle a number of times before the woman got out of the car. She was then struck by the offender. The woman sustained a cut lip, bruising and swelling as a result of the incident. Inquiries are continuing in relation to the incident.
