Woman charged over Police assault, Thursday Island

emale Police Officer sustained facial bruising and blurred vision following an alleged assault by a 17-year-old woman on Thursday Island on Sunday. Police were called to a disturbance shortly before 7am yesterday and the woman allegedly threw a bottle of liquor at police. She was subsequently restrained and then allegedly punched the officer repeatedly in the face. She was charged with serious assault, willful dame and liquor offences as a result of the incident and is due to appear in the Thursday Island Magistrates Court on September 14.
