A 16-year-old Manunda youth was charged with assaulting Police yesterday after an incident in City Place. It is alleged that the youth and an associate were involved in a foot chase with Police in relation to another matter at about 9.40pm on Lake Street. Upon being apprehended the youth allegedly spat in the face of the 32-year-old male Constable. He was subsequently arrested and charged with serious assault, and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on March 8.
